Do We Submit Your SR22 Certificate To The State?

Should I Take Any Insurance Documents To The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Or The Secretary Of State’s Office?

It is at the discretion of the particular office you visit on whether or not they accept the paper documentation. In recent reports from existing clients, the state no longer accepts physical SR22 insurance documentation.
How Long Does It Take For The State To Uplift My Suspension After I Buy SR22?
This is a very common question and unfortunately there is no general answer. Typically, when the state mandates SR22, there is a deadline to file. Drivers who do not comply with this order before the specified deadline are subject to driver’s license suspension.
Once the state suspends a driver’s license for any reason, it is then subject to a process of reinstatement, which oftentimes come with reinstatement fees. This reinstatement process can take up to 72 hours.
If SR22 filing is the final step in getting your license back, chances are, your license reinstatement is immediate.
In any case, it is always a good idea to contact your Secretary of State’s office to confirm before getting behind the wheel.
Is This All I Need To Get My Driver’s License Reinstated?
In many cases, an SR22 certificate is all you need to get your drivers license reinstated. In some cases, a reinstatement application and fee need to be processed.
How Long Do I Need SR22 Insurance For?
SR22 is mandated by a state’s courts. Depending on the state, SR22 can be mandated for a term of 1 to 3 years. Drivers in states like Illinois, Indiana and Missouri can be expected to carry SR22 insurance for 3 years.
Can I Make One Payment For The Whole 3 Years?
Simply put, any form of auto insurance is basically a contract between a driver and insurance company. Insurance contracts can’t carry on for longer than a 12 month term.
Does SR22 Insurance Cover Any Car I Drive?
This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions regarding SR22. SR22 is not an auto insurance policy. SR22 is a filing, or addition, to any auto insurance policy.
When drivers inquire on whether or not SR22 insurance covers any car they drive, they’re most likely referring to a non owners SR22 insurance policy. A non owners auto insurance policy is a form of liability insurance that provides a driver with bodily injury and property damage liability coverage when driving a vehicle that is not owned. This non owned vehicle MUST be insured by the vehicle owner. Non owners SR22 does not provide insurance on any car or vehicle you own.
What Happens If I’m Late Or I Miss A Monthly Payment And My Insurance Cancels?
An SR22 form is basically an add on to your insurance policy that notifies the company of non-payment or any cancellation or lapse in your insurance. Missing a monthly payment and allowing an SR22 to cancel results in the immediate suspension of a driver’s license by the state. Some insurance policies do provide their policyholders with a grace period. Talk to your agent for more information.
After I Buy SR22 Insurance, Am I Ok To Drive?
While carriers Insured ASAP partners with file your SR22 the same day, it is generally not a good idea to get behind the wheel of a car until the SR22 form is verified with the state.
Many times, an SR22 form can be sent to the state, but the state may not note a drivers file accordingly. This can be due to issues such as incorrect drivers license number, date of birth, or technical issues.

SR22 does not provide any type of coverage. SR22 is just an addition to an insurance policy that notifies the state on the status of insurance coverage including any cancellations or lapse.
